Morning Group:
What a busy week! Learners have been enjoying being artists and creating their masterpieces on canvases. They have been using print and paint to create their pictures and have been independent in deciding how their art work will look. These will be available at the Curriculum Evening and are being displayed in the nursery so please feel free to come and have a look.
We have been talking about our amazing bodies this week and asking questions about what we want to find out about. Over the coming weeks we will be exploring this further and looking at different things such as how are teeth grown and how do body parts stay together. In the playroom, we have been investigating size using different lengths of rope, sticks and tape to measure a variety of objects. Children were measuring themselves and using the language of ‘biggest and smallest, long and short’.
Our lovely learners have been using loose parts in different areas of the nursery, such as our placing and arranging and play dough areas, to create images of themselves and others. A few learners created an image of one of the other children which was so lovely. They have been focussing on adding detail into their loose parts pictures thinking about their heads and faces and creating their eyes, nose, ears etc.
Outdoors learners have enjoyed a variety of activities which support sharing and taking turns, climbing and balancing and looking after our environment. Learners were creating patterns around the nursery and in the garden using a variety of different objects and are interested in creating more which we will develop over the coming weeks. They also enjoyed role playing outdoors and with using loose parts, a few of them turned a large tube into a fireman’s hose and were busy putting out fires!
Our forest kindergarten started this week and all children have enjoyed going out to the woods, exploring, taking risks, being independent and building on relationships.
Afternoon Group:
The afternoon children have demonstrated their increasing understanding of nursery routines and enjoyed taking part in baking experiences. Each week, they have the chance to participate in the baking activity on offer, during which time they are encouraged to develop their turn taking skills and ability to follow instructions. We welcome parent helpers to come in to bake with the children; if you would like to do so, please let a member of the team know. They are very good with the snack routine and enjoy snack time where there is lots of chat and stories being shared.
Children have created their own pictures on canvas using print and colour. These will be available at the Curriculum Evening and are being displayed in the nursery so please feel free to come and have a look.
This week was the first forest kindergarten for the afternoon children. They all had fun going out to
the woods and exploring and making friendships.
Every day, Monday through to Thursday, children enjoy a varied snack. This week snack will be:

Monday – HOLIDAY
Tuesday – Porridge, honey and raisins
Wednesday – Crackers, soft cheese and apples
Thursday – homemade pancakes and oranges
Friday – Bring own snack
Our Curriculum Evening will be held on Tuesday 24th September. It will be held in the Nursery and doors will open at 7.00pm. We hope that you can attend as it provides a lovely opportunity to find out more about your child’s time in the Nursery and the various learning experiences they will have. The children’s art canvasses are now on display in the Nursery, please feel free to come in and look. They will be available for you to purchase for a donation of between £5 and £7 with the money being raised to help further develop our nursery environment. Then evening will close at 8.30pm
